ISRAELIS FIND GREEN TEA REJUVINATES BRAIN CELLS

Researchers at the Technion Institute in Israel have been working for almost a decade to show that an extract of green tea could be an effective treatment for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Diseases. In a new study presented in Washington, D.C., the research team fed green tea extract to mice suffering from the degenerative diseases and found it protects brain cells from dying and helps rescue already damaged neurons in the brain.

Tests are now underway on early Parkinson's patients in China, under the auspices of the Michael J. Fox Foundation to check whether green tea extract is slowing down the progression of the disease.

Numerous studies around the world have suggested that drinking tea may help support the brain as people get older. Tea consumption is inversely correlated with the incidence of dementia, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, which may help to explain why there are significantly lower incidence rates of age-related neurological disorders among Asians than in Europeans or Americans.

WISSOTZKY TEA CO. - 158 YEARS IN SAME FAMILY

The Wissotzky Tea Co. was established in 1849 in Moscow and became the largest tea company in the world. After the October Revolution of 1917, the Wissotzky family fled to Paris, while their activities in London and Poland were continued by the Seidler family. In 1922, branches were established in Tel Aviv and in New York. After World War ll, all production moved to Tel Aviv, and tea purchases continued in the London office.
